DANVERS — The Danvers Conservation Commission continued a wetlands hearing for 264 Center Street rather than order a peer review. Members debated whether two low depressions on the lot, flagged by the applicant's wetland scientist, together exceed the 5,000-square-foot threshold that would give the town jurisdiction under the Wetlands Protection Act and local bylaw. One commissioner said "I just don't want to give away our jurisdiction too quickly," citing abutter concerns about stormwater drainage.

Rather than commission a formal review, which staff member Emily said would involve soliciting proposals from three environmental firms, the panel voted to schedule another site visit before its July 23 meeting. Property owner Dorian, questioning the need for a second visit given his engineer-stamped drawings, said "whatever you guys think" after the board opted to proceed anyway. The commission separately approved its June 25 minutes by voice vote.
