Conservation · Meeting of October 22, 2026

DANVERS — The Danvers Conservation Commission continued hearings on two major wetland cases to November 12 while clearing two routine compliance files. Engineer Brad Mustaine of Meridian Associates told the board that erosion at the River Run condominium complex on Abington Road, worsened by Japanese knotweed, threatens roughly 16 units with foundation failure, warning the "do-nothing condition just leads us to foundation failure." The homeowners association, not the town, is funding five proposed retaining walls totaling about 470 feet. Separately, engineer Maureen Harold presented a 14 Tibbetts Avenue addition that commission members said could exceed the 10 percent degraded-riverfront-area cap by close to 1,000 square feet, requiring a Zoning Board of Appeals variance.

Neighbor Cheryl Flynn said without the rebuild the house would "blow away in the next Nor'easter." Both hearings, plus a drainage dispute on Cherry Hill Drive awaiting a peer-review report, were continued unanimously to November 12, 2026.
