DANVERS — The Danvers Conservation Commission cleared two wetland cases and closed out a completed permit at its July 23 meeting, with Chair Mary Haight absent. Wetland scientist Andrew Thibault of Goddard Consulting told the board two isolated depressions on 264 Center Street fall below the town's 5,000-square-foot jurisdictional threshold, and the commission voted 4-0, with Michael McCarthy abstaining, to issue negative determinations under both the state Wetlands Protection Act and the town by-law. The board also voted unanimously to issue a certificate of compliance for a completed addition at 2 Ipswich River Road and to clear a single parking space tied to PEG Companies' conversion of a Route 1-area hotel into apartments at 51 Newbury Street.
Member Andrew McNulty pressed staff on why the parking change wasn't handled administratively, asking, "Doesn't our by-law allow for that?" Town Meeting member William Bradstreet raised fill and permeable-paving questions during public comment on both wetland items. The commission's next meeting is August 13, with a July 27 filing cutoff.
