New textile bins placed at Danvers schools
Danvers Public Schools has partnered with Bay State Textiles to place textile recycling bins at schools, with proceeds supporting school programs.
Danvers Public Works announced Oct. 30 that Danvers Public Schools has partnered with Bay State Textiles to place textile recycling collection bins at school locations.
The bins accept clothing, including worn, ripped or stained items, shoes and boots, hats, pocketbooks, belts, gloves, scarves and bags, sheets, blankets, towels, pillows, comforters and other linens, and stuffed animals and throw rugs. Items should be clean and dry and placed in a bag before being put in the bin.
The bins do not accept mattresses, mattress pads, foam products, couch or outdoor furniture cushions, carpet remnants, or rugs larger than 2 feet by 4 feet.
The town said textile recycling keeps usable and recyclable materials out of the waste stream, and that proceeds generated will go directly to the schools to help support school programs and initiatives.
