Peabody Institute Library · Meeting of October 14, 2026
DANVERS — The Peabody Institute Library Board of Trustees approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the town over one dissent. Library Director Noelle Boc said the closure followed the resignation of Head of Community Outreach Jillian Parsons, the library's Sunday supervisor, amid a tightening town budget picture ahead of fiscal 2028. "It wasn't a lightly made decision," Boc told trustees.
Member Kenneth Lee presented a treasurer's report showing a $727,647.59 ending balance as of September 30, approved despite his inability to recall the purpose of a $5,000 July withdrawal. Cornerstone Financial Partners' Carly Dugan and Trevor Nelson reported the library's investment trust has grown from $390,000 in 2005 to $733,000 today, returning 14.2 percent in 2025 alone under a conservative 50-50 stock-bond allocation.
