Danvers Preservation Commission approved St. John's Prep's Memorial Hall renovation including accessibility upgrades and kitchen modernization while preserving the historic limestone facade; construction begins after June 2026 with reopening for fall 2027. The commission determined the former Central Fire Station at 135 Maple Street is historically significant, triggering a public hearing on proposed alterations; contract purchaser Joseph Koch intends mixed-use rehabilitation with commercial and residential floors.
The panel also found 156 Maple Street (circa 1900) is not historically significant. Commission Chair Dan Gagnon was authorized to draft correspondence to the Town Manager and Department of Public Works regarding snow storage damage at High Street Cemetery.
