Danvers Preservation Commission approved adaptive reuse of historic fire station. The Commission unanimously approved exterior alterations to 135 Maple Street, a 1924 Central Fire Station designed by architect Lester Cooch, permitting conversion to 11 residential units and ground-floor commercial space. The project preserves historic elements including iron railings, replica Palladian windows, and lanterns and sconces; the hose tower may be reduced to its 1924 height if feasible.
The Commission also unanimously adopted FY27 priorities focusing on pre-1725 structures, downtown documentation, and clarification of cemetery trust funds.
